The Scottish Chess Championship 2017

Andrei Maksimenko of Ukraine won the Scottish Chess Championship open event this year in Dundee on 7.5/9. With the title of Scottish Chess Champion and Junior Scottish Chess champion going to 16 year old Murad Abdulla, who finished top Scot with 6.5/9. Murad's only defeat was at the hands Andrei Maksimenko. At the same time a tournament celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Dundee Chess Club was held and eventually won by GM Andrew Greet of Scotland.  There was an interesting matchup between Colin McNab and Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant which I hope to analyse later.(Still working on it, when I have time ;-) This will be followed by a quick analysis of the games of the Scottish Chess and 150th Anniversary tournament in Dundee. If I find anything else of interest I will post it here. If others reading this finds anything of interest feel free to leave a comment in the section below. Live and kicking as I type this

Along with major tournaments around the world. A tournament marking the 150th anniversary of Dundee Chess Club is being played. Where alongside chess commentator and author Simon Williams. Is Katevan Arakhaim-Grant who is currently climbing the charts with Scottish Chess at the moment. Also competing is fellow chess olympiad team mates Colin MacNab and Andrew Greet and Sweden's Pia Cramling. https ://chess24.com//watch/live-tournaments/dundee-150/4/1/1 Alongside this is the Scottish Championship also being held this year in Dundee. Murad Abdul currently as I type. Is currently the top Scottish player in the 9 round Swiss tournament. His win in round 3 makes him top Scot in the Scottish championship as it currently stands. https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-tournaments/scottish-championship-2017/3/1/6 Just to explain. I believe, and reading the rules on the website it kind of confirms. That the title of Scottish Chess Champion goes to the top Scottish player at the e...

Magnus does it again

Magnus does it again and wins the grand chess tour event in Leuven, on the final day of play. In what has been obviously been a grueling two rapid/blitz tournaments.  With a test of navigation skills thrown in. One wonders whether they brought their bikes to go on Le Tour for an encour.
