Down to the wire as always in Russia

The Russian Chess championship concluded with Peter Svidler again crowned Russian champion after a tie break. Chess queen also came within 0.5 of a point of clinching the women's title. With a final round decider concluding in a draw.

Also in September

Also in September was the Chess World Cup. A qualifying route for candidates for the world chess championship cycle. It was eventually won by ex World Chess Champion Vladamir Kramnik. Final interview below Catch up here : link

Run up to World Chess Championship.

With the Chess world championship in November. World number 1, Magnus Carlson warmed up in September for the match against the World champion. With a tournament in St Louis, USA. Together with world number 2 Levon Aronian and USA's number 1 Hikaru Nakamura and US Chess Champion Gata Kamsky.
