Hou Yifan has reached within half a point of being crowned women world chess champion for the third time. The seventh game ended in a 81 move draw. Not the longest game of chess ever played, as implied in the headline. https://lviv2016.fide.com/2016/03/12/the-longest-game-ended-in-a-draw/ The longest World Chess Championship game in history remains Korchnoi v Karpov 1978 a 124 move draw. Carlsen and Anand came close in their recent clash in 2014 reaching move 122. https://www.chessdom.com/carlsen-and-anand-come-close-to-breaking-the-record-for-longest-world-championship-game/ With 2 rounds to go Maryia needs to win both these last two rounds to tie.
