A health warning should be made while watching these marathon matches. Please make sure you take regular breaks as the commentators do. Prolonged sitting in front of a screen is not good for your eyes or other senses. Thanks to videos like the one below by Peter Svidler you won't miss a thing in terms of insights into the games.

World Championship round 3

Image
Gloves came off in round 3 with Magnus pressing in the Ruy Lopez Berlin. Seemingly quite easy to defend in a very symmetrical end game. Karjakin allowed a convincing attack which almost resulted in a victory for Magnus. Watch the highlights video by GM Eric Hansen posted after the conclusion of the round. Fascinating game.

World Championship Round 2

Image
Round 2 ends in a draw. The Ruy Lopez. In my opinion Karjakin never had any winning chances. Even though Karjakin in the press conference thought he did. And Carlsen equalised but couldn't find a way to press for a win. Highlights and most excellent analysis provided by Canada's Eric Hansen on chess24. The tension continues to mount.

World Championship Round 1

Image
A draw in round 1 between Magnus Carlsen and Sergey Karjakin. In the now, thanks to a viewers comments during the game, renamed, Trumpowski opening. (1. d4 nf6, 2. Bg5). I think the question we are all asking is, how is Magnus going to unpick the Russian challenger. After watching the game I think Magnus won on points. With a surprising choice of opening and had the better chances to win the game. What will Sergi's response in game 2, be? Can't wait to find out.
