Olympiad finished ages ago

Apologies if you were eagerly awaiting for the next installment of this blog. This blog which is primarily for personal enjoyment. And frequency is down to my ability or desire to sit at a keyboard and type for a few hours. Did used to get paid quite a bit of money for doing such a thing as, sitting in front of a computer and typing. Not so much anymore. The chess olympiad concluded last week with USA narrowly winning the gold medal from Ukraine on the narrowest of margins. As can be seen, on chess24's report , the complexities of the final day meant there was much doubt on the final day as to who actually won. In the end USA's dream team won the gold. I HOPE to bring analysis over the next few months of Scotland's games of the 2016 olympiad. These will be an amateur conclusions and analysis. Scotland 0.5 USA 3.5

Blunderfest by Scotland against the USA. Colin Mcnab was unlucky not to get the scalp of Samuel Shankland with a winning attack which petered into a draw. My Analysis of Colin McNabs draw thanks to chess24 Andrew Greet made a mistake early doors against Fabiano Caruana, and was unable to recover. Blitzing out moves to go home early and possibly recover for the next day. My analysis of Andrew Greet's loss thanks to chess24 John Shaw made a blunder on move 20 against current US #1 ranked player Nakamura and immediately resigned. Iain Gourley made a blunder on move 30 against Ray Robson in Ruy Lopez and similarly quickly resigned.

Malta

Malta is an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast. It's a nation known for historic sites related to a succession of rulers including the Romans, Moors, Knights of Saint John, French and British. It has numerous fortresses, megalithic temples and the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, a subterranean complex of halls and burial chambers dating to circa 4000 B.C.

Scotland wins against Aruba 4 - 0

Aruba

Aruba, a tiny Dutch Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela, has dry, sunny weather, blond beaches and gentle surf. Constant trade winds bring cool breezes and cause the divi-divi trees to slope southwesterly. European influence shows in architecture that features Dutch gables painted in tropical pastels. It’s also  evident in language, with English, Dutch and Spanish spoken alongside the local tongue, Papiamento.
