Today in the chess candidates we have :


Alexander Grischuk vs Wesley So

Both recovering from defeats in round 1.


Ding Liren vs Fabiano Caruana

Ding Liren the Chinese super gm up who went for a three fold repetition with Levon Aronian, possibly going for the long game. Up against the fabulous Fabiano Caruana from the USA, who won the battle of the USA yesterday against Wesley So. If Fabiano wins here then this might set Fabiano up for an excellent tournament.

Mamedyarov vs Aronian

Possibly the game of the day as both had an excellent year in 2017 so expect a tense struggle here. 

Kramnik vs Karjakin


The battle of Russia, I would predict a draw, with a slight edge to Kramnik after Karjakin's defeat to Mamedyarov in round 1. But a draw, as they say in Russia, is the normal result when Russian's meet.


We shall see when round 2 begins.

Human failure

This blog began as a cathartic exercise. To allow me to express myself in a way that I had not done before. Always the quiet one in the corner. Much preferring quiet discussions than backslapping revelry. We find human failure such a shock sometimes. However it happens all the time. We set people up for failure within our educational system. Things may have changed since my time. In my time they tried to create automotons out of an animal that wants to laugh and play. Perhaps they still do this from where you are. The system put questions before you that very seldom crossed your mind. Do the answers progress your understanding of the world and universe around you? Did the answers make you a better more wealthy person?  The world is a beautifull place and people in it are on the most part wholesome and kind.
