Sinquefield Cup round 9


And Wesley So wins the Sinquefield Cup

Wesley drew with MVL to win the tournament by half a point from Levon Aronian, Veselin Topalov, Fabiano Caruana and Viswanathan Anand. MVL and Nakamura finished 1 point behind Wesley So with an exciting last round where Nakamura and Caruana won. MVL's attempt to win with a Berlin Defence against Wesley So failed and ended in a draw which cemented Wesley So's position at the top of the Sinquefield Cup leaderboard. 

A great event, entertaining, with perhaps Veselin Topalov's queen sacrafice against Nakamura in round 4, despite ending in a draw my highlight game of the tournament. Two great wins against Veslin Topalov and Hikaru Nakamura proved the decisive games which won it for Wesley So in a very tense tournament where draws dominated.

Human failure

This blog began as a cathartic exercise. To allow me to express myself in a way that I had not done before. Always the quiet one in the corner. Much preferring quiet discussions than backslapping revelry. We find human failure such a shock sometimes. However it happens all the time. We set people up for failure within our educational system. Things may have changed since my time. In my time they tried to create automotons out of an animal that wants to laugh and play. Perhaps they still do this from where you are. The system put questions before you that very seldom crossed your mind. Do the answers progress your understanding of the world and universe around you? Did the answers make you a better more wealthy person?  The world is a beautifull place and people in it are on the most part wholesome and kind.
